With so many famous faces appearing in this movie, it is surprising I hadn't heard more about it. The film basically focuses on different couples and their experience of Valentine's Day. Brought out just before February 14, it will be interesting to see how quickly it will now lose its appeal.
You know before watching it that it will be the typical 'cheesy' romantic comedy and it doesn't fail to disappoint. Without hopefully giving too much away, everyone who is disillusioned with love at the beginning predictably isn't by the end and those who have acted badly get their comeupance. With the patchwork of stories, it doesn't succeed in the way similar films like Love Actually did.
Watch it if you want a nice, cheery movie that will leave you feeling all is good in the world. Although, with short skirts and tanned legs everywhere, you will also be sure to leave this film depressed at British weather! Why is it not that sunny here in February?!
There were mixed reviews from my friends on this film. Some loved it, others felt they had wasted over two hours of their life! Personally, I feel the film starts off well, the story is good and there are parts which are incredibly tense. However, after the murder victim goes to heaven, everything seems unnecessarily long. I realise we are shown the same clip of her on her bike taking pictures numerous times for dramatic effect, but the more times it was shown, the more agitated I got. There was also no need for the romantic element. Gripping in parts, drawn out in others and I wouldn't be in a rush to see it again. Who knows, you may really like it!
I watched Stomp on its opening night at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast. The show is full of energy and is cleverly choreographed to make music from even the simplest of objects such as newspaper, plastic bags and matchboxes. The noise levels gradually increase with the banging on sinks and bin lids! The audience was great and laughed at all the right comedy moments and were happy to participate when urged to do so. All the performers gave it their all and the show thoroughly deserved the standing ovation it received. The only downfall was the child sitting behind me who thought she was part of the show and kicked my chair throughout the duration of the performance!
